UFC 297 is kicking off the new year in style.
In the first card of the new year, Sean Strickland defends his middleweight title against Dricus du Plessis in a huge clash at UFC 297.
In his first title defense since pulling off a shocking upset with a win over Israel Adesanya in September, Strickland will want to make a statement as his next move. Not one to shy away from voicing his opinion, Strickland has occasionally ruffled a few feathers even as his popularity has grown. But all that will be put to the side as he comes up against a new challenger.
Du Plessis is coming off eight straight wins, including six in the UFC. Most recently, the South African took out ex-UFC champion, and our beloved Aussie, Rob Whittaker in impressive fashion to solidify himself as the number one contender in the division.
